On Wednesday, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met Boris Gryzlov, Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
The
meeting was held in the framework of the official visit of V. Lytvyn to Saint
Petersburg.
V. Lytvyn announced that the parliamentary component of the Ukrainian-Russian relations was the key issue discussed at the meeting. He stated that 26 meetings on the supreme parliamentary level were held this year, which is two times more that in 2009, and five times more than in 2008.
According to V. Lytvyn, "this dynamics of the relations should be supported by the parliaments."
The Head of the Parliament announced that the Interparliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Federal Council of the Russian Federation would meet in Kyiv on 29 November to discuss the essential issues on cooperation in the sectors of aviation, space, navigation, power engineering, and atomic power engineering. The participants of the meeting would discuss the issues on cooperation in the sphere of humanities, education, research and culture.
V. Lytvyn informed that in this period, Sergey Mironov, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, would stay with a working visit in Ukraine.
V. Lytvyn and B. Gryzlov discussed the issues of economic cooperation. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is convinced that the mutual trade turnover can be increased. "The potential of Ukraine and Russia should develop, attaining the ‘cumulative result´, he claimed.
On
27-28 October, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine,
stays with a working visit in Saint Petersburg (Russian Federation) to
participate in the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member Nations.
Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, participates in the 35th sitting of IPA CIS Council and international interparliamentary conference dedicated to the presidency of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the OSCE.
According to the program of the visit, V. Lytvyn meets Sergey Mironov, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, Ural Mukhamedzhanov, and Chairman of the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Sergey Antufiev, Governor of the Smolensk region of the Russian Federation.
The Ukrainian parliamentary delegation consists of the Chairman of the Subcommittee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Fighting Organized Crime and Corruption, Chairman of the Standing Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in IPA CIS Ivan Vernydubov and Chairman of the Subcommittee of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Foreign Affairs, Deputy Chairman of Standing Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in IPA CIS Oleksii Lohvynenko.
